Food: Julie & Julia

Food movie: No Reservations

Julie & Julia (2009) — A personal favourite. Two tales of people finding joy in cooking. Head to the local bookstore, you can find the French cookbook as mentioned in the film. Real one!

No Reservations (2007) — Do food usually taste as good on set apart from it looking remarkably mouth-watering on screen? Just a thought. On the other hand, this film revolves around Watch trailer.

Korean food movie: Le Grand Chef

Hong Kong Movie: God of Cookery

Le Grand Chef (2007) — It’s interesting how food movies like this help play a part in introducing and promoting food cuisines to the viewers. In this case, Korean food. The film tells the story of two chefs competing for the title of heir to the last Royal Chef of the Joseon Dynasty. Watch trailer.

God of Cookery (1996) — A comedy classic with over-the-top antics by Stephen Chow. I like to believe that this was the Cantonese film that paved the way for future food-themed movies in Hong Kong such as Kungfu Chefs and Wasabi Mon Amour 和味濃情. Watch trailer.

Korean movie: Ratatouille

What is your best dish?

Ratatouille (2007) — This is an animated movie about a rat who can most likely cook better French cuisine than you or me. A movie fit for the family. I have to admit I have attempted to cook an omelette or pasta after watching it. Brilliant. Watch trailer.

On top of my head, this pretty much concludes the list of my favourite food movies. On a related note, what is your best dish that always has your family/friends craving for more?
