Goodbye

Their last words

A goodbye at Changi.

As I was making my way to the departure hall, they caught my attention. So I stopped and stood there — between a huge pillar where a huge banner stood and a human-sized recycling bin in the shape of a bottle. I watched the two lovebirds trying to exchange their final bids of goodbye through the glass partition.

Inaudible to the rest of us except for them. In a fleeting moment, I caught a glimpse of devastation in her eyes before she disappeared into a swarm of passengers heading towards Gate Area D. The guy walked away with his head facing downwards. But not without taking a final glance at her. She was gone.

What is your ideal holiday?

It was in fact a holiday I had hoped to have for a very long time. Whereas your ideal holiday would be on a tanning chair in a faraway beach resort, I would be sitting on grey-tiled floors for hours flipping through books on design, food and business at Kinokuniya.

And like how all fantastic holidays end — abruptly. I am now back in Kota Kinabalu telling you to come back in a few days as I’ll update with more posts on my days in Singapore. Till then, be well and behave.
