One evening, I casually mentioned to my sister that I would like to ‘ta pau’ some supper for her as she was pulling an all-nighter that night. Given the fact, she paused for a second, looked at me in disbelief and said ‘OMG! I cannot believe this!’. I saw it as quite encouraging and a big yes.
Moments later, she explained why she was surprised. Referencing an early episode of Moonlight Resonance (溏心風暴之家好月圓), there was a scene at a boutique where two sisters were trying on clothes with their brother who was buying it for them. ‘Those type of brothers only exist in television and movies — TOO NICE!’ she explained. ‘But… you are creepily starting to get close’ she added.
Wah Piang! That sounded like a compliment from my sister. Even if it wasn’t, her thanks later was. In the end, I did not ta pau supper for her instead I bought her a slice of mango cheesecake while I was out with Yien. And just last night, I ta pau-ed mango pudding from Ren Ai for my two sisters. =)
Forgive me, I’m quite new to being nice. I’ve got silly one-liner which I say to my sisters whenever I am doing something nice for them — ‘[Insert sister's name here], time to show my 爱心 now…’ Quite lame, I know.
Anyway why the sudden dose of niceness? Because of her. I honestly hope she really understands now.

I’ve been a nice brother for years. Trust me, it’s not hard. When you treat people around you nice, they’ll treat u nice too. No harm of treating people nice you see.
