How fun is that? Recess on the rooftop. A collaborative work between Takaharu (architect), Yui Tezuka (architect) and Kashiwa Sato (creative director), they designed, built and branded Fuji Kindergarten in Tachikawa, Japan — giving a novel twist on the traditional kindergarten.
What is unique with this building is the children’s play area is located on the roof top of their classrooms. Children here are encouraged to run around the deck. Each classroom has a rope ladder which leads to the roof top. Such a lovely environment to grow up in. Wouldn’t you think so?
Things to do:Watch an audio slideshow of Fuji Kindergarten at Monocle. Or the three video clips of the place at Youtube. More photographs at Kashiwa Sato’s online portfolio.
