Hanging photographs in clusters

Figure 1. The first frame of many more.

With the overhead cupboard (the one right above my study desk) getting dismantled soon, I am very much looking forward to giving the soon-to-be-empty wall a new lease of life—a new shade of paint and hang a cluster of framed art and photographs like this which I am sure would personalize the entire room.

I once asked my Mum. “Whose idea was it to get the interior designer to fill my room with so many cupboards in the first place?”. I knew quite well that I could never make good use of them. But Mum insisted, “One day, you will have lots of stuff—and you will then thank me” she reaffirmed. I never did. I wanted more white space instead. I still do.

Quite intrigued with the art of hanging artwork in clusters, I’ve started collecting a small collection of prints (A good place to find artwork to hang is Etsy) which I’m intending to hang with an assortment of ‘Kodak Moments’ I have. Good quality frames are hard to come by here in Kota Kinabalu. I’ve purchased several from Living Concept (An IKEA Rip-off) in Warisan Square but would suggest that anyone with some spare change to get the frames custom made instead.

How does your wall look like?

IKEA stuff at Living Concept isn’t as cheap as getting it direct from the official outlets. Living Concept works in Sabah as the middlemen hence the markup in IKEA products. I do believe that this business is not legal though as it infringes IKEA copyright by reselling them as Living Concept products.
