Mini fashion boutiques in Kota Kinabalu

A heightened interest in selling women’s clothing and the rising costs of shop estate has led to a trend of mini fashion boutiques being opened across major shopping centres in Kota Kinabalu. A mini fashion boutique is loosely defined as a fashion boutique occupying only a portion of the original shop space (In a bid to maximise profits, shop renters usually split their shop space so that they can rent it to one or more interested parties).

Only a handful of fashion boutiques flourish. Mostly don’t. After all a fashion boutique’s survival rate depends solely on the quality of its stocked clothing and more importantly — the owner’s taste in clothing. Many a time I’ve seen boutiques shutting down due to a) the lack quality clothing or b) underestimating its customers spending power. Not to be generalising but women always had more spending power compared to men. Walk into a shopping department and you’ll see what I mean. The growth in mini fashion boutiques are a good thing for Kota Kinabalu. They represent a new generation who are more style-conscious than ever before. What do I know about fashion boutiques? If it helps, I go shopping with my girl friend. Occasionally.

Do you prefer shopping in fashion boutiques or shopping departments?
