The prolific angpau diggers

Angpau
Figure 1. Everyones loves red packets during Lunar New Year; even me.

Their eyes glistened as uncles and aunts entered the home. The television was on but their concentration remained elsewhere. They seem relaxed on the couch; nibbling tidbits as they occasionally turn to look out of the house. Like a lion hunting for its prey, my younger cousins were the lions. The prey—my parents and probably yours too.

“Gong xi fa chai! Gong xi fa chai! Gong xi fa chai! Xin Nian Kuai Le!” they scream on top of their lungs; hands opened awaiting their yearly red packets. I don’t recall myself being that aggressive when I was their age. Do you?

They really should have tuition courses on this—How To Maximize Your Angpau Rewards for Kids. Very pro wan. Aunts and uncles will be greeted like royalty. Wishing them lifetime of happiness et cetera. You get the idea. Heck, if I do have my own child in the future, I’ll probably enroll him. After all, all angpaus end up in the hands of the parents. *Sinister laugh echoing*

Are you still eligible to collect angpaus?
