As the sun smiled over the Australia Zoo, five thousand people accommodated the Crococeum (Stadium for Crocodiles) for Steve Irwin’s memorial. Presented by Anthony Field from the Wiggles, this memorial was designed with young children in mind. Video snippets of celebrities around the world giving their tributes to the Australian icon graced the screens of the Crococeum. The memorial service ended with his favourite song as the zoo staff gave their final tribute; a flower arrangement of the word ‘Crikey!’.
I remember everytime Crocodile Hunter was on television, my whole family would gather in the living room as he shared his knowledge on animals with us as we witness one or two animal bites onscreen. Yes, we thought that he was a loony but we all enjoyed his shows.
