When plans fail

in Love

Make a plan, set a goal, work towards it. But every now and then, look around, drink it in cause this is it. It might all be over tomorrow.

— Grey’s Anatomy

You know we spent so much of our lives not saying the things we want to say. And the things we should be saying, we do not say enough. We keep it to ourselves. We tell no one–and slowly we forget. And in the process, we get lost. You know that feeling, don’t you?

This leaves us with decisions. Choices to make–Passion or career? Money or relationships? And the thing is–we have always been taught to pick one or the other. Rarely both which is where the dilemma is but whichever one is picked, what all matters is the first step. “Dream first.” said the blind man in a documentary clip I watched over the weekend when asked to comment on improving accessibility in Kota Kinabalu for the blind. He took his first step. Have you?

Failure is inevitable. And it’s important to know that failing helps us grow. We grow not because of the things we’ve done right in this world but the things we have failed to achieve thus learn something from it. So, be it the job that you have still failed to get. Or the love of your life who have more than once rejected you. You have to get bad in order to get good.

Look at yourself when you are in front of a mirror–and question yourself what have you done lately? Life is short. Make sure every choice you take is a meaningful one.
