iPad

30 Jan Over the weekend, I met up with a friend for dinner who currently operates a family-owned traditional chinese medicine shop in Foh Sang. Having arrived early, I took a seat and waited as he tended to some customers. The shop is a real relic—medicine cabinets which have stood the test of time, the unopened bags of herbs and dried goods, the small re-packed cough drops at the front counter. To see this small business still surviving is an experience by itself. When was the last time you paid a visit to your local traditional chinese medicine shop?

27 Jan Despite its resemblance to an iPod touch at twice the size, the iPad is showing promise as an important platform where I might look further into as I work towards in getting one of my 2010 personal project realized—launching a small independent publication with a slightly different theme for each issue. Planning and researching is now underway at a less than ideal pace. But it’s going to happen! That aside, I’m currently reading Rude Food (★★★★☆) by Vir Sanghvi (a compilation of articles from his food column in the Hindustan Times newspaper). A brilliant read.

Ray, Charlotte and ST on boat

26 Jan I like to think that Jo and ST were back again in Kota Kinabalu because they missed Charlotte and me. And not just the islands that we have here! We do seem to head there every time they are here.

Coincidentally, my sister was on the same island with her friends on the day we went. Cloudy weather with isolated patches of sunshine in between. When was the last time you were at the islands?
